Tokyo Love Hotel (working title)
We’ve been lied to our whole lives. We’ve been taught to believe that sexuality is the sacred domain of the biological, of the organic, of romance. We’re here to set the record straight.
This is the natural evolution of humanity. This is the future of love.
Long live the new flesh.
Hello and welcome.
This is Tokyo Love Hotel. This is for you.
In an age of Tinder and Grindr, of Netflix and chill; in a world of screens and diminishing touch, of decreasing birth rates and increasing levels of social anxiety… what happens to intimacy now?
This is the very first outing of our most recent project, Tokyo Love Hotel. After a British Council and Arts Council England sponsored research trip to Tokyo last year, and subsequent development time supported by Arts Council England and Ovalhouse, we will be exploring some of our first ideas in a live presentation at Ovalhouse in July. This research and development sharing will not be the fully immersive production, but more like a series of mini, interactive installations and experiences to help us test out some early ideas. We'll be collecting feedback to help us develop the fully fledged large scale site-specific production next year.
If you'd like to be part of our very first test audience and are curious to know more, you can find tickets here: http://www.ovalhouse.com/whatson/detail/tokyo-love-hotel
This R&D is kindly supported by Arts Council England.
